The Language Way currently seeks Spanish instructors who enjoy using their creativity to teach general Spanish conversation and professional Spanish Conversation to adults.

 

Position:         Part-time Spanish Instructor- 1-2 hour of instruction per week

                        1 position in the White Plains, New York vicinity- Beginner II level
                        general language.

                        1 position in the Peekskill vicinity- Beginner III/Intermediate I level
                        Business Spanish

                        1 position, Bronx, NY- Spanish for Mental Health Professionals

 Job Description:

Candidate will be responsible for using the immersion approach to teach beginner or intermediate conversational –general or professional Spanish. Lesson development required.  Supervision by phone with program director required weekly.

 
Ability to develop an excellent student instructor rapport is essential to our work. We pride ourselves in our professional relationships and foster this ability in our team. Candidate’s ability to adapt to the students learning style while teaching them how to learn via immersion will ensure the success of instructor and student. Successful candidate should be able to convey the nuances of Latin culture and how this influences the work environment- i.e. how to function linguistically and culturally in Spanish in their chosen profession (or in the community -for general Spanish learners).

Requirements:

M.A. Spanish preferred. Strong knowledge of the ACTFL oral proficiency scale, outstanding ability to teach using an immersion approach to language learning. Use of multimedia and interactive methodology a must. Minimum 2 years teaching adult language learners preferred. Professional knowledge required for those who will be teaching Business Spanish or Spanish for Mental Health.
